Renewal of a Vision
Br. Symeon was born on August 10, 1968 in Athens, Greece. After his military service, he studied Theology and Canon Law at the Greek Bible Institute, the Birmingham Christian College, the University of Wales and St. Elias School of Orthodox Theology. He was consecrated in 2003 within the Genuine Orthodox Church of Hellas and Diaspora, and has since worked as a missionary in Japan, Guam, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, Washington and Hawaii. From the very beginning, Br. Symeon was convinced that the Church is in dire need to return to what she always proclaimed to be: holy, welcoming, universal and united. |
Without compromising apostolic doctrine or the teachings of the Ecumenical Councils, he emphasizes the liberating principles of primitive Christianity that were later taken away, hidden, altered or abused by the institutionalized Church. He strongly believes that the riches of the Orthodoxy should belong to all believers. In his opinion, echoing the slogans and thoughts of the past without criticism is equally wrong with echoing the slogans and thoughts of our contemporary society by leaving out the godly principles of yesterday.
Br. Symeon is an associate member of the American Bar Association and a guest speaker to numerous congregations in the American Midwest. He is also the Abbot general of the Contemplative Order of Divine Presence. His motto is: "Don't just go to the Church but be the Church".
